All Killer No Filler - Minnie Riperton

Minnie Riperton’s inimitable voice was heard around the world with the 1975 single release of the classic ballad “Lovin’ You.” The enduring love song, written with Minnie’s husband, songwriter Richard Rudolph, showcased her astonishing five-and-a-half octave range and introduced a truly unique talent to an international audience. Minnie’s musical roots featured operatic vocal training as a young girl, a teenaged signing with Chicago’s legendary Chess Records as part of girl group the Gems, and a creative stint with experimental rock band the Rotary Connection. It was her solo career, however – cut tragically short by her untimely death at the age of 31 – that allowed her spirit to shine through. A beloved figure in the history of pop music, Minnie and her music continues to inspire musicians and music lovers alike.
